leggy Kaos

It's funny how someone shows up for a cultural night for a few hours, the disappears! am talking about the guy on the right side...yes, but first, let's backtrack earlier hours. Welcome to Syoks movie, we start from the back. Literally.

Am yet to recall who I met and shook his or her hand last Friday. Too many people, mostly my friends from Facebook, and the saddest bit is that I had to guess their names or if some of them told me, I had to pretend I know them (oops, did I anika myself!)

The Naija boys and girls were in town. am not a fan of Oga movies and just like you, the only Oga sinema I remember is ‘The price”, of one pastor Ken. Mboches from our hood would watch it over and over until the tape head fades away. The AMA (I hope its correct..Mutheu!!) nomination night was going down that Friday at Ole Sereni Hotel. Ole-whatever hotel is where soda is equivalent to what I drink on one night. Tickets were going for Ksh. 10,000.00. enough said! Treat your chick to that and you def get head!

Sauti Sol on the other hand were launching their third album (not sure, don’t keep track of albums) at the AF. Sweethearts like Julie Mwamburi left work at lunch hour, got home, jipodoad themselves, put on their best heels, pulizaad themselves Binti El Sudan and even pitiad their ATM’s. sad for them to get there and find it packed…and only those who had advance tickets survived the noose. On behalf of Julie and others, next time those people should stage it in a bigger arena. Sauti Sol is growing, treat their fans well…same as ONEfm and the rest of the organizers.

Kao night was going down at Carni but first had to listen to my boy Dj Joe alongside Joey. I call them “double Jays” and their show “The Heat” leaves the poor boy with wallposts to answer! Mokuasi all the way from US of A skypes me, ati he wants to hear his name. tendencies from the bush are still stuck with the guy, na sasa ukijiona kwa Tv?

Red Card centre, I pick up Ng’eno, Karomo and Eric. They are not Kao’s but all Kao nights are religious to them. All these years and you haven’t hitched yourself a Kao mama…shida si hao, ni nyinyi!

Nguna and Mutinda show up, we pick our secluded spot at a corner. This has grown to be more than a corner for the guys. People seem to ingia Carni and head there. Kasomi and Laz Mwendwa are also present and my cousin Vic and the bro are at a visible table.

There is little activity but maybe I am the one that arrived mapema. Kalovo runs dry at these occasions and better late than never. I notice Nguna pleading Sanita to pose for a photo with him but Sanita is reluctant and even brushes Nguna off. Sanita, I know you may never read this but, peeps like Nguna have made you. Picha haitaumiza.

wanna see Nguna dance to his music? Here:-)

…all of a sudden, everything went leggy!

Nzilani and her cousin Sylvia show up, with 3 other chicks. All in short skirts and all one would see is the legs. Cheeky Nguna was left sober. Suzy, Lucy and make an entrance, still in short skirts. When did we stop going for Kao night in tight fitting jeans? Lorna, Caro, Winnie and grace our counter. I recall calling Winnie another chick’s name (poor me!) and she was all laughing. All these ladies….few men. Leah worsens things when she introduces a female pal of her that left another guy all itchy. The guy was tapping her and winking at her…Kamba men, with that trend we will lose our sisters to the likes of Ngeno and Eric

Ken wa Maria still has a commanding although statistics pit towards Kativoi. These two have had beef all along and its high time they kissed and made-up! We want music, not diss tracks. Stop singing against each other, we want music. Wa Maria brings the inside stage down and cameras click away. Reminds me of Koko, my guy from coast. Wont go there…

Ken is in old school, that’s development. Hope they are Converse my mbratha!

Christian kept calling me, when I was busy sorting some durama. Will make it up to you. Same as Dee, my bro that supports Arsenal. I had threatened him not to walk in branded like them…so lucky we never met, would have soaked that scarf in kalovo! Ben and Janis, great friends alongside Ralph and Yvonne. By the way Ralph, next time you write postpone, avoid using the ‘R’…that text for POSTPORNED (eish!) Kelvin is all around, I thinking hunting. I said I think. Their fellow goon Laz aka muundu wa miindo aka super machismo is also hapa-kule. Too bad he never got the chance to meet Nzilani. Daniel, I know you happy reading that. SCOOP!

Dama and Lutendwa, how have you been? You still owe me! Manuella is present. She is the neighbor one avoids, her cooking is good. But then she is from Kangundo…and women from this place…woi!

Fred…let me call you uncle Freddie, umenifichia white ball. Thyaka, great to meet you in person. Next time don’t be afraid of saying hi when you meet me and then choosing Facebook to tell me. Gladys and Getrude were at a corner, passed and winked at them. Busy dancing to lewd Kao songs.

George and Papa, two great big men! Then Vic joins them and they pose with Ken. Am sure the guy felt intimidated. Hope you picked contacts, he may need bouncers in the near future if he keeps on squabbling with Kativoi. East coast-West coast beef. Julius is missing. He is the guy that works in Kisumu. Last time I was there he hosted a brother, even paid for a room. A sleeping room that is.

The night whiles away and unlike the last one, this one had people leaving from 5.00pm. last time there was Kamanza, Jacqueline, Musau and many other people, who were missing that day. Commitments? We miss you guys! Even James Muendo aka Tim Rick and one wharrever lady, you know yourself.

Victor...you showed up at Carni at 4.30am...from where? Same as another tight female friend (name withheld), that Smirnoff gulp didn't do me good, my head is still spinning!

could Wa Maria be headed for bigger things?

That is it.and I owe it big to one Fakii Liwali!
